Environment: To follow the philosophy described by Maria Montessori children are free to choose equipment/material following a demonstration by the teacher. The environment allows children to move around freely to explore different materials when they require. Students are taught not to disturb the order of the class or misuse the equipment to promote smooth learning.

Children are exposed to and allowed to connect with nature to develop the innate sense of belonging and contribution. By allowing for mixed age groups they are allowed to experience social awareness. The material is designed to be self-correcting, as once the teacher showcases the children can attempt to solve the problems.

Exercise of practical life: The most ordinary activities which we can do without thinking are wondrous and challenging for the child. The activities may include something as simple as dressing oneself, habitual courtesies or laying a mat and continues with increasing difficulty. The pedagogy allows for purposeful activity that develops fine motor skills, concentration, independence and sense of responsibility. This is a stepping stone as both math and language require one to have the ability to focus, to be able to follow logical and sequential steps, to make intelligent choices, to see a task through from start to finish, to persist when one makes a mistake, and to correct one’s mistakes

Math: Mathematics is experienced by young children by use of concrete materials that allows children to easily understand the concept. This is then moved to abstraction

Language: A lot of information is provided to the child as the early years is a highly sensitive period for language development. Various methods such as storytelling, read-along, sing along, mapped writing are used to enrich different aspects of language namely vocabulary, speaking, reading and writing.

Culture: Culture encompasses not only history, geography, biology but also includes art and craft, music, design thinking. Culture feeds into not just surrounding but also their creative and imaginative side of intelligence.

The Montessori teacher’s role is that of a facilitator, to observe and interpret the child’s needs, provide a nurturing and stimulating environment to facilitate children’s growth, exploration and participation enhancing experiential learning in the children. Our Montessori teachers constantly collaborate with each other to develop lesson plans for children to develop their social, emotional, physical and intellectual skills. They monitor and track children’s progress and ensure regular communication with parents regarding their children’s progress.

ONLINE CLASSES-KG-XII-BLENDED LEARNING

With the onset of the pandemic, the school has been offering blended learning for the students of KG-XII. The teachers at SDV use online technology to not only supplement, but transform and improve the learning process. FOUNDATION TRAINING

The school provides FOUNDATION TRAINING for classes 6-8 students to prepare them for IIT JEE / NEET foundation concepts. This is a starting point (building block) for the students in the selected classes to have an early beginning. The foundation training is aimed to help the students become mentally and strategically strong when they start studying IIT JEE / NEET concepts and topics, ideally from class 11 onwards. This training will provide added benefits to learn strengthen and practice the basic concepts in advance so as to give students an advantage in class 11 and 12.

OLYMPIAD TRAINING

OLYMPIAD TRAINING is offered to interested students from class 1 to 9. Our little stars have already made a mark for our school in Olympiad Exams by winning 15 gold medals, 25 silver medals and 12 bronze medals recently. Olympiads, also known as Olympiad exams, are a collection of competitive exams held for students through Classes 1 to 12. Olympiads are conducted on a national as well as international level and encourage students from a similar academic genre or level to participate. Olympiads, be it on a national or international level, are deemed as one of the toughest exams to crack.
